“In 2010, the UK found itself with the largest deficit since the Second World War,” as stated in the Treasury’s 2013 Spending Round. To reduce this deficit, reform has taken place to lower public spending which reached a high of 47.4 per cent of the GDP from 2009-10 (see graph below). As a way to cut IT costs and ease procurement, G-Cloud was launched to encourage migration away from expensive in-house solutions and adopt cheaper, easier-to-use Cloud solutions.
