In Part I of this series we demonstrated how Thru Connector for Outlook is used to attach files within Outlook emails to solve common technical challenges such as file size limits and security.

In Part II we will show you how enterprises can streamline content management with the Connector’s side panel feature. Thru’s side panel is what distinguishes Thru’s Outlook plugin from others in that Thru is the only solution to give full access to the file system directly inside Outlook. Not only can this side panel be used to navigate files stored in Thru Cloud, but also to view transaction logs, modify sent emails, and for uploading and downloading files and folders.

In this demo, you will learn how the side panel is used to modify sent emails and manage files stored in Thru Cloud.

Manage Enterprise Content with Thru Side Panel

Conveniently located in the Outlook Ribbon, users can easily open the side panel whenever they need to view their files stored in Thru. The side panel consists of two tabs, one to view emails sent with Thru and the other to view stored files.

Modify and View Sent Emails

The first tab within Thru’s side panel gives users the ability to view Outlook emails that were sent using the Connector. Here users can view the status of sent files and modify sent emails.

Knowing the exact status of each file transfer is priceless for enterprises that have employees who collaborate on time-sensitive projects or regularly send sensitive information in Outlook. To know if a recipient has downloaded sent files, each message will either have a question mark or a checkmark. The question mark indicates that files have not been downloaded and a green checkmark is a confirmation that files have been downloaded. A red X lets the user know if download availability has expired.

To edit a Thru message, users can simply double-click any message and have the option to remove files, expire files immediately, or extend the download date. This is a very beneficial feature for employees who accidentally sent the wrong files to a customer or messaged the wrong recipient.

Manage Your Files Stored in Thru

The second tab of the side panel is where users can manage thousands of files or folders stored in Thru Cloud with breadcrumb trail navigation. Rather than leaving the Outlook workflow to access and share files from a separate cloud storage solution, employees have full access to enterprise content at just a click away.

If a user right clicks on any file or folder, there are many actions that can be performed like sending, saving, uploading, viewing transaction logs, and more. Also, users have the ability to conveniently drag and drop files, folders and even Outlook emails into any folder. These actions to files and folders are just a few robust capabilities that set Thru’s Connector apart from other Outlook file sharing plugins that can only send links to files.

An example of a company that utilizes Thru Connector for Outlook to collaborate on global projects is HKS, a leading global architecture firm. With over 10,000 users in its system, HKS architects can use Thru’s side panel to easily access shared files based on project name and also upload new documents directly from Outlook. Since Thru gives the ability to drag and drop Outlook emails to the side panel, employees can easily organize all emails associated by project in Thru Cloud.

This concludes this series on Enterprise File Sharing with Thru Connector for Outlook. Stay tuned for a new series in the coming weeks where we will talk about Thru Dropbox™ and how it streamlines file exchange with users outside your organization.
