The Richards Group uses Thru Dropbox™ for efficient client interactions
The largest privately held advertising agency in the US, The Richards Group maintains a staff of over 600 with annual billings around $1 billon. They are best known for their award winning campaigns for companies like Chick-fil-A, Home Depot, and Corona. They constantly send and share large print and video files within the agency and with their clients across the country and around the world.
“Easy to use. Saves clients significant money, and has replaced most of our FTP needs. If it pleases customers, that’s what matters.”
THE CHALLENGE: Sharing Large Media Files with Clients
The Richards Group needed an efficient way to make broadcast video, audio and print files available for collaboration between members of the creative team and for review by clients located around the world. Files were very large and subject to frequent change throughout the approval process, and they were also very time sensitive due to the emphasis on meeting media placement deadlines. Additionally, the creative intellectual property has to be readily accessed by all members of the creative team and their clients, while remaining secure and monitored throughout the process. The Richards Group used FTP to send these files, but they found FTP to be time consuming, inconsistent, restrictive, and lacking of the fundamental monitoring, security, and internal controls that are needed when dealing with customer’s sensitive data. Files could be lost, deleted or accessed improperly from the FTP servers with no means of tracking delivery. These issues could easily cause deadlines to be missed and profit lost. Facing these problems, The Richard Group began to look for another solution.
BUSINESS VALUE: Increased Productivity and Customer Satisfaction
Since deploying Thru’s Managed File Transfer Platform and Content Delivery Network (CDN), file transfers have been dramatically improved. Global data transfers to and from The Richards Group’s customers are accelerated many times over the previous FTP solution, allowing the company to collaborate quickly and securely. Also, the creative team is pleased that all files are now tracked and monitored, while the customers are impressed with the ease of use. With Thru, The Richards Group can now focus on its core business of delivering creative product rather than the intricacies of large file collaboration.
THRU SOLUTION: FTP Alternative, Content Delivery Network with Geo-steering
The Richards Group chose the combination of Thru’s Managed File Transfer Platform and Content Delivery Network (CDN) to replace FTP. Thru’s Platform integrates with Microsoft Outlook, IBM Notes, SharePoint, or Salesforce.com to allow files or folders of any size to be securely sent without any special training or assistance required from the IT staff. Files are easily downloaded by the recipient, yet they remain secure.
Since files and folders can be stored securely in the Cloud, all users can securely and easily access files from anywhere at any time. Management is also greatly simplified, since the administrator has the ability to effortlessly set or modify who has access to different files, as well as to track and audit information on who has received which files.
The Content Delivery Network (CDN) dynamically distributes files to strategically located core, fallback and edge servers. This allows content to be uploaded onto multiple servers and delivered using the server closest to the recipient, greatly speeding delivery across the globe.
