Thru Announces Annual Information Management and Intellectual Property Benchmark Study
New Corporate Research Initiative To Explore Electronic Communication And File Transfer Challenges When Managing And Sharing Confidential Data
Irving, Texas, June 4, 2007 – Thru today announced the 2007 kick-off of its Annual Information Management and Intellectual Property Benchmark Study at the opening of the PTC/USER World Event 2007 in Tampa, Florida. The PTC/USER World Event 2007 is the premier conference for the global PTC/USER community, providing attendees with three days of in-depth training, networking and solution provider exhibition. The new benchmark study sponsored by Thru will shed light on the industry’s information management challenges and capture a snapshot of best-in-class practices for protecting intellectual property.
“Secure and efficient information management is top-of-mind for most organizations today with significant intellectual property and business operations that span the globe,” says Lee Harrison, Chief Executive Officer of Thru. “After gathering feedback from our customers and observing trends in compliance, litigation and corporate governance, we saw an opportunity to give executives a forum to share their perspective and approaches for addressing the challenges inherent in sharing intellectual property using tools like email and FTP.”
Recently, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the KSR International Co. v. Teleflex, Inc. case, making it more difficult to obtain patent protection for inventions and defend against lawsuits involving patent disputes. “Increasingly, firms are beginning to realize that intellectual property protection is becoming much harder to enforce without internal policies around how information is managed and controls on how intellectual property is shared inside and outside the organization,” explains Jeanine L. Mitchell, Vice President of Marketing and Alliances at Thru. “Executives are faced with significant risks of losing competitive advantage, customers and possibly their jobs if this issue isn’t addressed proactively.”
The Annual Information Management and Intellectual Property Benchmark Study will include questions such as:
- How is information shared inside the network? Outside the network?
- Is monitoring and audits performed for information sharing and delivery?
- Where and how is intellectual property stored in electronic form?
- What are the priorities and practices for improving electronic communication?
