New Version Embeds Role-Based Content Publishing, Information Rights Management (IRM), Non-Repudiation, Archiving, Full-Text Search, Data Retention And Delivery Policy Management Into Mission-Critical Business Applications
Thru, a global pioneer of message governance, today announced the release of Thru Server 7.5, the latest version of its secure content delivery and archiving system, and new upgrades to the Thru Secure Communication Network (SCN) service which encompass comprehensive capabilities to manage governance, risk and compliance (GRC) across ad hoc messaging infrastructures, including:
- Message authentication and non-repudiation
- Seamless information rights management (IRM)
- Role-based content publishing and workflow
- Email archiving and full-text email search
- Delivery and retention policy management
- Validated for Microsoft Office and Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007
- Off-the-shelf integration with Microsoft SharePoint Services 3.0 and MOSS 2007
- Over 90% programmable via expanded web services API
Together, the Thru Server appliance and Thru SCN service can be implemented in a hybrid model to extend internal networking, storage and security resources with cloud computing for external, on-demand collaboration.
“Increasingly difficult and volatile financial times for companies of all sizes have made comprehensive governance imperative for the foreseeable future as shareholders, government mandates and internal corporate measures dictate that information flow has tighter controls and be audited. The challenge is to collaborate efficiently within these boundaries to drive innovation and global collaboration,” says Lee Harrison, CEO of Thru. “By extending traditional managed file transfer with an array of global file exchange and GRC capabilities that hook into the existing enterprise architecture, Thru Server 7.5 and the Thru SCN service enable Critical Message Governance [CMG], essentially a deep level of visibility and controls across messaging infrastructures.”
The Thru Server 7.5 web services API “turns on” secure content delivery and archiving capabilities inside disparate portals, collaboration tools, project and data management systems, and CRM and ERP applications, including those from SAP, Oracle, Salesforce.com, NetSuite and Microsoft. For example, using Thru Server 7.5, organizations gain off-the-shelf integration into Microsoft SharePoint Services 3.0 and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 which allows content owners and contributors to encrypt the delivery of files and analyze internal and external file transfer activity across multiple content libraries directly from Microsoft SharePoint. Also, Thru Server 7.5 removes the need to put Microsoft SharePoint in the DMZ by letting users publish explicit collections of IRM-protected content to the Internet as on-the-fly web pages with searchable metadata and guest access control.
“Thru Server 7.5 resolves collaboration, regulatory and e-discovery challenges by centralizing the audit and protection of electronic information assets through integration,” said Jeanine Banks, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing at Thru. “That way, businesses can simplify messaging infrastructure complexity, making staff more productive, reducing risk and speeding up manual information GRC processes.”
The Thru Server 7.5 Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Library, the official name of the web services API, will be shared with select systems integrators and consultants as part of an initiative to expand the availability of connectors seven-fold over the next two years.
“In this global economy, IT Infrastructure plays the role of a powerful business enabler,” says Mark Gigliotti, President of USA Consulting, Inc., a Texas-based, mainframe technology solutions consultant and owner of I T Group, Inc., a certified solution provider for IBM FileNet and Hyland Software OnBase products. “To improve your business processes, ad hoc messaging needs to be successfully integrated into the IT infrastructure and content applications. Thru is helping to drive the evolution of ad hoc messaging infrastructure into a fluid business communication platform for disparate systems.”
Thru Server appliance pricing starts at $11,000 per server, Thru SCN Corporate Edition service starts at $15 per month per user based on volume and Thru SCN Small Business Edition service is $10 per month per user. An enterprise subscription license, which includes a access to the Thru Server SOA Library, is available for organizations with 1,000 or more employees.
