Consona Corporation Selects Thru Cloud-based Managed File Transfer as a Service (MFTaaS)

Consona expands cloud-based network with shareThru™ and syncThru™ for tracking and auditing

Irving, Texas, March 15, 2011 – Thru™, Inc, provider of the leading, globally networked enterprise cloud-based managed file transfer as a service (MFTaaS) platform, today announced that Consona Corporation (Consona), a worldwide leader in providing customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and services, has selected the Thru™ platform as their global file transfer service.

Consona upgraded from FTP and its known limitations with Thru’s cloud-based enterprise global managed file service. Now users send even the largest files internationally with the click of a sendThru™ button in Microsoft Outlook. Consona incorporated syncThru™ to accelerate global file transfer and move extremely large files with low latency to end users, reducing times and increasing security.

What Consona Corporation says:

“With Thru we have streamlined local and global file transfer and are seeing a marked improvement in employee productivity, team collaboration and workflow, and in meeting deadlines, plus we now can run audit reports to track activity,” said Kristen Hayes, Director, Global Information Systems for Consona Corporation. “Our strategic plan was to outsource file transfers and free up IT resources from deploying FTP,” Hayes said. “Thru’s cloud-based implementation process was so efficient that we were up and running as soon as our proof of concept was completed,” she said.

What Gartner Research reports says: (FTP Replacement: Where MFT Makes Sense and Why You Should Care, by Thomas Skybakmoen, Nov. 8, 2010)

The traditional deployment scenario for MFT was to replace FTP. However, the role of MFT has been expanded to include a range of integration efforts, from internal A2A, middleware and data integration initiatives to external B2B and cloud-computing projects. MFT has gone from a stand-alone solution to one that offers a holistic approach that includes the ability to integrate into existing solutions for those project types.

MFT also helps govern files in applications such as e-mail (e.g., Outlook), collaboration tools (e.g., Documentum) and application development tools. We still see many organizations that require basic MFT functionality, such as secure, reliable, high-performance, large-file transport; checkpoint/restart to work around unreliable networks/connections; and multi-threading to increase performance versus traditional file transfers, which is one of the primary reasons for considering MFT.

What Thru, Inc. says:
“I am delighted that Consona selected Thru as their global file transfer platform,” said Lee Harrison, CEO for Thru, Inc. “Consona is at the forefront of software companies who realize that now is the time to upgrade from FTP for increased speed, security, administration and scalability – all important business drivers in an accelerated global marketplace.”
