What is Thru?

Thru is a Web-based file storage system used for file sharing and distribution with integrated metadata, distribution management, email notifications and email ordering. Authenticated users can upload and download files and then invite "guest" users to collect files. Thru is used by brand management, consultants, architectural firms, medical groups, law firms, print service companies, mortgage companies, resellers, sales companies, telcos, third party billing organizations and just about any company needing to share and distribute files.

Does Thru replace FTP?

Thru can replace FTP servers that are used to share and distribute data over the Internet. Because Thru is Web-based, it offers a much more user-friendly interface and much more secure interface that anyone with access to a Web browser can use.

Do I have to download any software to use Thru?

Thru is a Web-based application so no client software is needed. However, for added convenience, we do offer an Outlook Add-in to integrate Thru into your Outlook email client.

What about viruses on Thru?

Thru has the latest virus protection automatically updated everyday. Access to Thru is very restricted and only used for system administration and maintenance. All other access for Thru administration is done from the browser by the customer. Data stored on Thru is verified based on a predetermined schedule with the customer and any infected files are quarantined and the Thru administrator is notified.

Is my data secure on Thru?

The data stored on the Thru server is secured behind firewalls and where lockdown scripts have been applied to the system to remove common insecure entry paths. All data transmissions between the client browser and the Thru server are encrypted with 128-bit SSL encryption. Furthermore, all Thru servers at the data center are monitored for attempted intrusion attacks.

Is Thru as fast as FTP when uploading or downloading files?

Yes. Thru is only limited by the bandwidth of your network connection to the Thru data system. Although there is a small performance hit when uploading data over HTTP compared to FTP, the difference is minimal and the benefits of the HTTP application layer outweigh the minor loss in upload speeds.

What is a Thru Account?

Each registered user of a Thru site has their own Thru account. When an administrator creates a Thru account it is assigned to a specific user group or groups. The user group permissions determine what the user of the Thru account can have access to and what functions they can perform. Each Thru account has its own user home category which has My Documents and My DropBox folders already created.

How does a non-registered user upload files to a registered user?

The user simply emails the Login page URL to a non-registered user. He/she then selects the DropBox icon on the Login page and follows the directions given. DropBox allows non-Thru user's to upload files to a users private My DropBox folder. The “guest” never has true access into the Thru user's site.

How is Thru organized?

Thru files are organized into file groups much like files on your computer are stored in directories or folders. Keyword and advanced searching of files is also available.

How do I change my password?

Select My Profile and enter your current password then your new password. Verify the new password and select Update. A message beneath Update will appear stating if your new password is valid.

How do I upload a file from my desktop to Thru? Can I drag and drop it somewhere?

Registered users can select the Power Upload button in the Content Panel when viewing the contents of a folder. Drag and drop your file of choice from your desktop to the large area in the Power Upload area and then select the Upload Now button. If you don't want to drag and drop, you can also hit the Add button in the Power Upload area to browse for your file. Once you've selected a file, hit the Upload Now button. Non-registered users can upload files to a registered user via the DropBox on the Login page.

What are the requirements of your Web Edition?

Since Thru is a web app, it is best viewed in 1024x768 resolution or better. We support Internet Explorer 5.5+ for PC and Safari 1.2+ for Mac. If using IE, you must launch the application from IE directly and NOT through Outlook or a Windows Explorer Address Bar.

What are the requirements to utilize the Thru. Outlook Edition?

We support Windows 2000, XP and Vista Operating Systems with Outlook 2002 (10.6515.6626) SP3 or Outlook 2003 (11.6568.6568) SP2 installed or Outlook 2007.
