Thru, Inc in Latest Magic Quadrant for Managed File Transfer (MFT) Report

Thru, Inc positioned among 45 vendors in the MFT segment

Irving, Texas, September 19, 2009 – Gartner, Inc., the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company, announced their latest Magic Quadrant for managed file transfer this week. The Magic Quadrant (MQ) evaluates vendors based on completeness of vision and ability to execute – using 15 weighted criteria based on relative strengths in the market.

According to the report there has been an explosion of interest in the MFT solutions market. Large file transport and collaboration around files is increasingly part of the normal business workflow, and has caused a shift from use of traditional email and FTP. Governance and security issues come into play, especially where file collaboration is involved. As a result, enterprise knowledge workers must respond to these challenges, in many cases looking to MFT providers.

“We believe that we’ve tapped into something all business users need” according to Thru, Inc CEO, Lee Harrison. “Certified, reliable file transfer and cloud-based file management is clearly where the market is heading, but we’re already looking ahead. Thru has developed intelligence-gathering tools which will make file transfer and management much more useful by bringing actionable business intelligence into the regular workflow. That’s where we’re focusing product development. We are very appreciative for the recognition.”

Gartner also reported: “As in any market with growing visibility, we have seen the entrance of major vendors.” This has propelled MFT market visibility, and forced providers to respond to the challenge, or bow out. Gartner went on to say “2009’s Magic Quadrant criteria were weighted to reflect the importance of file transfer in its many forms, including integration into business workflow and the collaboration between people.” In response, Thru’s Customer Service VP, Daniel Hurtubise added: “Thru is recognized by analysts and our customers for delivering both.”
